4-Tiered Approach
Work Experience is an important part of our students’ preparation for adulthood. We promote that ‘work’ and ‘jobs’ can take place everywhere and not always in traditional employment. We use a 4-tiered approach to our Work Experience at Charlton Park Academy to ensure that all students from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5 are being given opportunities to develop work-based essential skills.

Looking After Animals
Following on from March careers week, it was highlighted that many of our students have an interest in looking after animals.
Learners across all Key stages took part in Careers workshops centred around animal care.
Students were given the opportunity to handle animals and discuss the different jobs linked to their care and wellbeing.

Open City Workshop
Three of our post 16 classes took part in a workshop delivered by Open City .
a small group of architects talked to them about their work and facilitated designing and modeling activities.
Learners all enjoyed and engaged in the workshop!

The Co-op Work Experience
Our post 16 Learners will start work experience at Co-op Plumstead next week.
Learners visited the store and were given a talk by the manager Brendan. Needless to say, they are eager to get started!
Brendan was very accommodating, and we are looking forward to building a lasting relationship with him and his team.
Work Experience is of huge value to a young person and provides a prospective employer with ‘evidence’ of how they have adapted and performed in a real-life working environment.
We see these opportunities as an important part of our young people’s journey towards employment and are currently building relationships with multiple employers to provide a wide range of work experience and work encounters for all our learners starting from as early as year 8.
