Future Community and Jobs
Charlton Park Academy is committed to implementing a careers programme that provides all our learners with high quality, yet meaningful and purposeful Career Education Information and Guidance (CEIAG). The curriculum focus is built upon understanding what the future looks like for each individual student and ensuring they are as prepared as possible. This is underpinned by our Golden Thread of Preparation for Adulthood and My Learning Journey targets linked to ECHP Outcomes.
We aim to develop aspirational and achievable future life goals for our students. The curriculum supports this by ensuring that all students know how they would individually encounter the world of work; from undertaking paid employment to communicating and interacting with people in different job roles within their communities. Therefore our curriculum is adapted to best suit the needs of each of our five pathways.
See our Work Experience page to see examples of our students trying out different jobs, and spending time engaging with employers and the community.
Pathways 1-3
Students receive 1 session of Work Related Learning per week. Learning follows Long and Medium Term planning working on a rolling curriculum from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5. Please see the Curriculum Map for further details.
Pathways 4-5
Students in Pathways 4 and 5 experience Work Related Learning embedded as cross-curricular links, to ensure it is meaningful and purposeful. Much of this is practical, real life learning in the form of Tier 1 Work Experience.

Skills Builder Universal Framework
The Skills Builder Universal Framework is a progression roadmap. At Charlton Park Academy we use it to support our learners in developing the eight essential skills, defined as ‘Employability Skills’ but also support student preparation for adulthood. The framework breaks down the skills into 16 teachable and measurable steps which we link across our curriculum to ensure they are developed holistically as well as allowing for transference of skills and overlearning.
