Extreme Temperature Weather Warning London- expected to at least Tuesday 11.59pm
Dear Parents,
We have received a message from the Met Office alerting us of the extreme high temperatures on Monday, Tuesday with a red weather alert already present for Wednesday and Thursday.
We are aware that most young people travel for up to an hour without access to water or cool travelling conditions on their way both too and from school.
As parents, you may feel that for health reasons, that it is in your child’s best interest to stay at home in cooler conditions, due to the extreme heat they will experience on their way in and out of school.
Therefore, in order to safeguard your children’s wellbeing, we respect your rights to make the best judgement about what is best for your child.
Therefore, given the extreme circumstances, you are welcome to keep them at home to support their health, their safety to comfort and ensure safe hydration.
If you decide to keep your children at home during the Extreme Heat, then please phone the school on 02082496844 extension 107 to let Kay Wallace know.
We will record this absence in line with authorisation given the extreme weather and health context.
For students attending school, please ensure they come prepared with sufficient water on route to school via plastic not glass bottles, hats, and sun protection already applied.
We will also be following a common sense approach in school to keep students safe and comfortable as possible given the extreme temperature weather.
We are following guidance from the UK met office whereby a severe high temperature warning is in place- please see the information below
