HPV Vaccinations for Year 8
Message on behalf of Greenwich Immunisation Team
If your child is in Year 8 their HPV vaccination is now due.
This includes one single injection:
The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine
Along with this vaccine, your child can receive the following vaccination, if they are missing one or both doses:
Measles, Mumps, and Rubella vaccine (MMR)
The HPV vaccine provides lifelong protection against a range of cancers caused by the human papillomavirus.

The Greenwich Immunisation Team will visit Charlton Park Academy on Monday 20th April 2026.
If you do not complete your consent form, you may be contacted by phone, text, or letter, to offer your child future opportunities to receive vaccination. If you return a ‘no’ consent, we will not make any further contact this year.

Young people with special educational needs or disabilities
We understand young people with special educational needs or disabilities may find vaccination sessions particularly stressful. Our immunisation nurses are experienced at supporting young people who have additional needs and may be anxious about vaccinations. We welcome discussions with parents/carers and young people prior to the session date to make the experience less stressful.
We offer all young people the opportunity to receive their vaccinations in an appropriate and comfortable environment. If you feel that vaccination in school is not appropriate, you are welcome to attend a clinic setting in the community. Our teams hold clinics over the school holiday periods, some weekends, and after school sessions. Please contact your local school immunisation team to book a clinic slot.
