Important Dates in May at CPA

Dear Parents and Carers,

We’ve got lots of great events and activities coming up for our students in May so take a look below to see what’s planned.

Throughout term time we run regular parents and carers coffee mornings, craft mornings, choir practice and yoga. We’d love to see you there scroll down to find out more.

Please note that Monday 4th May is the Bank Holiday and the May half-term holidays are Monday 25th May until Friday 29th May. Our students will return to school on Tuesday 2nd June (Monday 1st June is an INSET Day for teaching staff only).

Event: Mental Health Awareness Week

Date: Monday 11th May to Friday 15th May

About: Mental Health Awareness Week is an annual event that focuses on supporting good mental health. Each year, the Mental Health Foundation sets the theme and encourages everyone to organise special activities during the week to help raise awareness. The theme for 2026 is “Action”.

Event: Sunshine Day

Date: Wednesday 20th May

About: Sunshine Day will be celebrated as part of Mental Health Awareness Week. We will be encouraging our students to talk about their mental health and think about what they can do to help their own wellbeing and mental health as well as their family and friends. What simple actions can we all take to improve our mental health?

We’d love our students to “Wear it Green” or another bright colour to help celebrate.

Event: Supporting the mental health of loves ones with learning disabilities
Date: Friday 22nd May 2026

About: Join Woolwich Waves for an open discussion on how to support the mental health of the person you care for. Vatsala and Kate will share practical insights and strategies on:

  • Anxiety and related behaviours
  • Depression
  • Social isolation
  • Behaviour that challenges
  • Relationships and sexuality

Activity: Parents & Carers Craft Group

Date: Every Tuesday during term time

Time: 10.00am to 12.00pm

Location: Charlton Park Academy

About: In these sessions parents and carers share their craft skills and make lovely items. We then sell these items to help raise money for the annual school prom which is held every summer. We’d love to see you, so come and learn a new craft or share your own craft skills!

Parents & Carers Craft Group Every Tuesday during term time

Activity: Greenwich Carer Voices for Parents & Carers

Time: 12.15pm to 13.30pm

Date: Every Wednesday during term time

Location: Charlton Park Academy

About: Every Wednesday during term time at Charlton Park Academy Guided by a fantastic choir leader who is a professional Soprano and loves to lead community choirs. We are “all abilities” which means you just need to enjoy singing!

Singing combines being with other carers, having a laugh, expressing yourself in a song and de-stressing. You’ll also receive valuable professional musical tuition to make the very best of your voice. Just drop in. No need to book!
