The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
A DofE programme is a real adventure from beginning to end. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from. You just need to be aged between 14 and 24 and realise there’s more to life than sitting on a sofa watching life pass you by.
You can do programmes at three levels, which when completed, lead to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
You achieve your Award by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections (five if you’re going for Gold) – Volunteering, Physical, Skills, Expedition and for Gold, a Residential.
You’ll find yourself helping people or the community, getting fitter, developing skills, going on an expedition and taking part in a residential activity (Gold only).
The best bit is – you get to choose what you do!
Your programme can be full of activities and projects that get you buzzing, and along the way you’ll pick up experiences, friends and talents that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

Twenty students from classes Cockfosters and Holland Park have been attending Cyclopark in Gravesend weekly since the autumn term as part of their physical challenge section for the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.
What Class Cockfosters had to say about the Cyclopark
Sammy: I love going to Cyclopark and riding the three-wheeler bike and trying out the balance bike.
Mohammed: I like using the double seated passengers bike.
Leon: I like using my feet for pedalling the balance bike.
Megan: I was very scared at first, but I feel comfortable now riding the three-wheeler bike.
Lisa: I like the fact that am outdoor and getting fresh air, but my favourite bike is the Balance bike.
Cyril: I like riding the two-wheeler bike around the track.
Elliott: I can ride already but enjoy riding on the off road track.
Kofi: Cyclopark is the best. When I first got to Cyclopark I didn’t think I would be able to ride a bike because I can only use one hand but the instructor quickly found me a suitable hand peddle bike, I love it and every week I get more confident at controlling the bike.
Ella: My favourite bike is the green Recumbrant bike, I also tried my best when using the Balance bike.
Chloe: I absolutely love it at Cyclopark, I’ve tried out all the different bikes so I swap bikes from time to time, I also like the fact that I have the chance to ride off track as I am a confident rider.
