London Philharmonic Orchestra – Open Sound Ensemble

The London Philharmonic Orchestra would like to invite you to join our Open Sound Ensemble sessions taking place over Zoom this June half term.

Open Sound Ensemble is a free inclusive music-making group for young people with special educational needs and disabilities and their parents / carers. The LPO are offering free small group music-making sessions on Zoom on Wednesday 2 and Friday 4 June at either 10.30 – 11.15am or 11.30am – 12.15pm on both days.

The sessions are specifically for those who haven’t taken part in Open Sound Ensemble before. They will include playing music together and individually, meeting a musician from the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and having fun. You don’t need to have any musical experience to take part, but if you play an instrument already you can bring it along with you if you’d like to.

Each of the two sessions will be different, so if you apply, it means you’d like to take part in both dates (not either / or).

If you would like to take part in these sessions, fill out the sign-up form here.

The deadline to apply is Wednesday 19 May. The LPO will follow up with phone calls with everyone who applies, to explain more about what is involved, and to find out more about your young person. If you have any questions or would like to find out more before you apply, please feel free to contact

“My daughter felt very happy when in a room full of happy people making music. Her attention span was so much better and her understanding and listening skills are really developing already!”
