Travel Buddy Pilot Walk or cycle to school with 1:1 support

Greenwich Parent Voice, Team100 Charlton and the cycling community of Greenwich are partnering in a new independent scheme: 1:1 support for young people with special needs to get to school and back, on foot or on a bike.

  • Age range 8-25
  • One or more days/journeys a week may be offered depending on capacity.

Take part in our pilot!

A wide range of needs and abilities can be supported
Trained and vetted 1:1 volunteer guides
For cycling, training and bikes supplied if required
Safe and interesting routes
Our volunteers will pick up your child from home and travel on foot or cycle with them to their school, and/or collect them from school and accompany them back home.

Your child will learn important life skills:

  • how to stay safe
  • how to follow a route
  • how to be calm and confident
  • how to adapt to new situations
  • how to enjoy travelling independently

They can then use those skills to go out with friends, join in activities away from the home and be less reliant on organised transport. Our pilot scheme starts in Greenwich in January 2020. The pilot will help us develop the model for a wider scheme to be delivered later on in the year. Interested in taking part in the pilot?
